Completion of the Neuhof noise protection wall in Alpnach

New Barrier Enhances Living Quality

«The Neuhof noise barrier significantly improves noise control along the A8 in Alpnach, thereby elevating the area’s living standards through reduced pollution.»
In the Neuhof area, the newly erected noise barrier along the route to Lucerne significantly cuts down noise pollution. After thorough planning and a challenging construction phase, the project is poised for its inauguration.

Constructing the noise barrier was a complex, months-long process. The site’s unusual geological conditions, such as its placement in a floodplain near lakes with a high groundwater level, challenged the foundation work.

Efforts were made to reduce disruptions for A8 commuters, with traffic restrictions and closures kept to a bare minimum,

The design of the noise barrier was carefully considered to ensure it blends seamlessly into the landscape, thus preserving the scenic view.

Now, as it nears operational status, the barrier is set to effectively diminish noise. This project shows how careful planning and the targeted use of modern technology can sustainably improve the quality of life along major transport routes.
