1965
Completion of the Contra dam. With its 220 meters in height, it is the first dam fully designed using numerical modeling.
1980
On September 5, 1980, when the Gotthard road tunnel was inaugurated, we looked back at an engineering masterpiece that took 10 years of construction and 20 years of planning. The tunnel project was Giovanni Lombardi's.
1989
With the founding of the joint-stock company in 1989, the leading employees were gradually included in the shareholder base.
1996
The founding of the Lombardi Group in 1996 marks a significant step in the group's development.
1997
With the opening of the subsidiary Lombardi Italia Srl, now known as Lombardi Ingegneria Srl, in Milan, Italy, Lombardi achieved a significant milestone in its corporate history. This wasn't just the first branch outside its Swiss homeland but also marked the beginning of an expansive presence in Europe: in 2013 in France with the opening of Lombardi Ingénierie SAS and in Belgium with Lombardi Belgium SA, and in 2015 in Austria with Lombardi AG Beratende Ingenieure. Today in Europe, we are present in five countries with 12 offices. This step in Milan was the beginning of the international journey for the Lombardi Group.
2008
2008 marked another significant year in Lombardi's history. With the founding of the Lombardi Latinoamerica SA branch in Guatemala City, Guatemala, the Group took the bold step of expanding its presence outside Europe: followed in Latin America in 2009 by Ecuador with Lombardi SA Ingenieros Consultores - Sucursal Ecuador and Lombardi Andina SA, in 2012 in Peru with Lombardi SA Ingenieros Consultores - Sucursal Peru, in 2016 in Chile with Lombardi SA Ingenieros Consultores - Agencia Chile, and in 2017 in Argentina with Lombardi SA Ingegneri Consulenti - Sucursal Argentina. This wasn't just a sign of Lombardi's continuous growth and ambitions but also a testament to its vision to operate globally and penetrate new markets. The launch in Guatemala City symbolizes the ongoing journey of the Lombardi Group, transitioning from a European company to a global player in the industry.
2011
The establishment of Lombardi India Pvt. Ltd. in New Delhi, India, represents another pivotal step in Lombardi's global expansion. With this subsidiary, the company firmly established its presence in Asia, once again showcasing its determination and vision to grow and operate internationally. India, with its dynamic economy and vast potential, offers numerous opportunities, and Lombardi seized this chance to provide its services and expertise in this vital market. This move underscores our commitment to expanding across continents and solidifying our presence in various world regions.
2016
2016 was a memorable year, marked by the opening of the S. Gotthard Base Tunnel. This monumental work is not only a milestone for Switzerland and Europe but also a significant chapter in the history of the Lombardi Group.
2019
In 2019, Lombardi made another tangible sign of its global ambitions with the opening of the Lombardi Engineering Ltd. branch in Sydney, Australia. This move was not just an expansion into the Australian market but also a significant entry into the English-speaking countries. Australia, as a key player in the Pacific region and with close economic and cultural ties to other English-speaking countries, offers Lombardi a strategic platform to further grow in this vital linguistic and cultural area. This bold step once again highlights our vision and determination to continually expand our global presence and operate in different linguistic and cultural regions of the world.
2021

2022 marks another significant chapter in the ongoing story of Lombardi. With the opening of a subsidiary in Canada, the Group expands its global presence and enters one of the largest and most diverse markets in North America. Canada, known for its robust economy, rich culture, and impressive natural resources, offers Lombardi numerous opportunities for further development and collaboration.

With the integration of EG4Risk in Milan, Italy, Lombardi confirms its specialist spirit by significantly strengthening its expertise in special studies.
2023
Lombardi strengthens its presence in the electromechanical, plant engineering, and safety sector, where, following Lami SA, Martigny, Switzerland (2022), another important company, HDZ Elektroingenieure AG, Urdorf, Switzerland, is integrated into the group.
