The Grand-Saconnex junction is a strategic axis that requires appropriate safety equipment and real-time monitoring. Variable traffic signs, lighting and video surveillance are just a few examples of the installed electromechanical infrastructure applied.

The Grand-Saconnex highway junction (JAG) features a complex layout of curves and traffic circles, including the north and south intersection, the exit from the Ferney tunnel and the Grand-Saconnex cable-stayed bridge. This arrangement spans a total of three kilometers.

Strategically placed traffic monitoring systems are installed at key points, including junction entrances and exits. Dynamic traffic signs allow for the adjustment of speed limits based on real-time traffic conditions and congestion levels. The flow of traffic is further regulated by traffic lights and various warning lights, which include both bicolored and flashing options.

Enhanced illumination for the roadway is provided by a sufficient number of streetlights, particularly in areas of potential conflict such as tunnel exits, traffic circles, intersections, and pedestrian crossings. . Additionally, four geolocated SOS columns are available on the emergency lanes.

The cable-stayed bridge is specifically equipped with a black ice detection system. An integrated pumping station within the JAG is equipped with an alarm system to detect issues, such as flooding.

Collectively, these features optimize traffic distribution and flow, enhance the comfort and safety of road users and ensure coordinated and prompt response in case of emergencies.
