Pakal Dul Hydropower project is a 1000MW Run of the river scheme being developed by Chenab Valley Power Pvt Ltd. (Govt. Undertaking). Package 3 of this project consists of Twin Tube Independent TBM bored 15km (7.5km x2) HRT with overburden ranging from 2m to 2000m and 2 Adits excavated conventionally.

Lombardi is responsible for the detailed design of the precast segmental lining of the twin HRT and allied works including design of portals and Adit tunnels; TBM dismantling caverns and Adit plugs.

The consultant provided expert services in designing and finalizing the Double shield TBM; alternatives for TBM launching; and solutions for exceptional geological occurrences foreseen in the construction.

The design is accompanied by a thorough Risk Management Plan that identifies, quantifies, rates and presents the mitigation measures for geomechnical hazards like rock burst, squeezing, geothermal conditions, high water ingress, shear zones etc., and technological hazards like TBM jamming, gripping loss, ineffective grouting etc. and other hazards.

Design support during construction to the contractor is provided as part of the consultancy services.
