Team Excursion 2024 – Törggelen in South Tyrol at the Putzerhof in Lajen
Program: Säben Monastery and Lengmoos Earth Pyramids
Our excursion began with a visit to Säben Monastery. Picturesquely perched on a rocky hill above Klausen, the monastery boasts a rich history dating back to the 9th century. Today, it attracts pilgrims and visitors alike who are captivated by its impressive architecture and the breathtaking view over the Eisack Valley.
Next, we explored the Earth Pyramids of Lengmoos, one of South Tyrol’s most fascinating natural monuments. These striking, tower-like formations are the result of erosion and consist of a mix of earth and rocks, with the upper stones protecting the layers below from further degradation. Nestled between Klausen and Bolzano, the site is a popular destination for nature enthusiasts.
We spent the evening enjoying the traditional Törggelen at the Putzerhof tavern in Lajen. Regional delicacies such as Schlutzkrapfen, Schüttelbrot, meat platters, and roasted chestnuts were complemented by the warm South Tyrolean atmosphere. The "new wine" perfectly rounded off this culinary experience – a wonderful opportunity to immerse ourselves in the traditions of the region.
